The Mine Site Security Guard is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of personnel, visitors, equipment, and company property at the mining operation. This position serves as the first point of contact for site access, monitors compliance with security procedures, escorts deliveries, and responds to emergencies and incidents to help ensure a safe working environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Control access to the mine site by verifying employee, contractor, and visitor credentials.
- Monitor entry and exit points to ensure compliance with site security procedures.
- Conduct routine vehicle, equipment, and facility inspections as required.
- Monitor surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and communication equipment.
- Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, alarms, and safety concerns.
- Prepare detailed incident, accident, and daily activity reports.
- Enforce company policies, site rules, and applicable safety regulations.
- Assist during emergency situations, including evacuations, medical emergencies, and severe weather events.
- Coordinate with mine management, emergency responders, and law enforcement when necessary.
- Investigate suspicious activities and document findings.
- Maintain accurate visitor logs, access records, and security documentation.
- Provide professional customer service to employees, contractors, vendors, and visitors.
- Escort site deliveries.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic reporting systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications- Previous security, military, law enforcement, emergency response, or industrial experience.
- Experience working in mining, construction, industrial, or remote-site environments.
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
- Experience with CCTV systems, access control systems, and security software.
Work Environment- Surface mining operation.
- Exposure to dust, noise, heavy equipment traffic, and changing weather conditions.
- Rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, nights, and overtime is required.
- May require extensive walking, driving, and working in remote areas of the mine site.
Physical Demands: To be eligible for this position, an individual must possess the following requirements to perform the essential job functions:- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking on uneven surfaces, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather.
- Able to operate a telephone and mine phone/radio with sufficient voice and hearing to carry on a conversation for the purpose of communicating information.
- Able to hear sufficiently to distinguish various pitches of warning alarms.
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds periodically.
