Position Overview:
The Mechanical Foreman provides day-to-day supervision and coordination of the mechanical maintenance team. This role is responsible for executing maintenance plans, supporting safe work practices, and ensuring the reliability of fixed plant equipment through preventative, predictive, and precision maintenance practices. The Mechanical Foreman works closely with the maintenance team to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.

This role is responsible for executing maintenance plans, supporting safe work practices, and ensuring the reliability of fixed plant equipment through preventative, predictive, and precision maintenance practices. The Mechanical Foreman works closely with the maintenance team to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of millwrights and mechanical trades personnel.
- Execute weekly and daily maintenance plans as directed by the Maintenance Superintendent.
- Lead daily line-out meetings, clearly communicating job assignments, priorities, and safety expectations.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with site policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Support planning and scheduling activities by confirming labor, materials, tools, and services are available for assigned work.
- Perform and promote precision and predictive maintenance practices to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Utilize CMMS to manage work orders, track maintenance activities, and ensure accurate documentation.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and assist in root cause analysis for failures, recommending corrective actions.
- Provide hands-on technical support and guidance to trades personnel as required.
- Monitor job progress and provide feedback to ensure work is completed efficiently and to standard.
- Assist in training, mentoring, and developing team members to enhance skills and performance.
- Coordinate with operations and other departments to align maintenance activities with production needs.
- Liaise with vendors and contractors on specific tasks or equipment servicing as required.
- Certified trade qualification (Millwright or related mechanical trade preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong experience working with fixed plant equipment in industrial, manufacturing, construction, or mining environments (mining experience considered an asset).
- Working knowledge of:
- Precision maintenance practices
- Predictive maintenance techniques
- CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and work orders.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively direct and support a team.
- Proficient in basic computer applications (e.g., CMMS, Microsoft Office).
- Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking on uneven surfaces, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather.
- Able to operate a telephone and mine phone/radio with sufficient voice and hearing to carry on a conversation for the purpose of communicating information.
- Able to hear sufficiently to distinguish various pitches of warning alarms.
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds periodically.
